Gabrielle, the youtube video is a gem. Perfect for showing clients who may be worried about being controlled. Thank you it is now in my tools for pretalk.

I, too, enjoyed the video. Good illustration of what happens when I suggestion is made that goes against what the clients believes or wants to do. I remember early on I made the mistake of suggesting to someone that, after stepping off the last stair, they would be in their special place, and "I don't know if it will be the ocean, or mountains, or any place you've experienced that's been special to you." When the client talked about her experience later I asked her if she'd like to share her special place and she said she didn't have one, that she'd had a fine time floating through colors. Taught me not to foist my ideas of a special place on my clients. I suspect my directives set up resistance in her or colors were her special place and it didn't occur to me.

Thast's why I prefer to ask each individual what they like to do, and then invite them into that experience. They already have it so all we need to do is to invite them into an experience that's already familar to them and we don't need to suggest anything. The e=xperience they like comes from them - always preferable to any suggestion[which comes from us].
Hi Rob! Enjoying the course...this particular video is blurred. Wasn't sure if anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks.
My pleasure, Rob. And, my apologies for the delayed reply! Thank you for uploading a clearer version. Saves me from having to get new reading glasses ;)
Great session here. Thanks to Gabrielle for the fun clip. This learning is so interesting Rob, and so rich with treasures to discover.
Thanks for this experience. I had to hear it several time since i got in hypnosis myselfjust by listening : very interesting. I am not english first langage and maybe that increase the attentional focussing wich contrast with the so quiet prosody.
btw, i really appreciated the mood (spirit and words) of your teaching.
I had some friends say similar to what your son said to you. They were on to me. I absolutely love it. I really enjoyed this one.
I remember reading that Erickson after experimenting was convinced that you couldn't coerce someone with hypnosis into doing something against their ethics. This youtube video shows this nicely. :-) https://youtu.be/c5aRlPa5WJw
